The Influence of Brand Awareness on Purchase Intention: Mediating Effects of Loyalty, Perceived Quality, and Brand Association in the Sri Lankan Smartphone Market

“Abstract
This study explores how Brand Loyalty, Perceived Quality, and Brand Association mediate the relationship between Brand Awareness and Purchase Intention for Samsung smartphones in Sri Lanka. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected from 456 respondents through purposive sampling. An analysis through SPSS was conducted and included correlation, regression, and Sobel’s test for mediation.
Findings show that Brand Awareness significantly impacts all three mediators, with Brand Loyalty and Brand Association emerging as strong direct predictors of Purchase Intention. Perceived Quality, while not significant on its own, demonstrated a meaningful mediating role.
The final outcome suggests that brand-driven purchase behavior is primarily influenced by emotional and cognitive factors rather than awareness solely.

TraceFlow: Enhancing Blockchain-based Traceability in Sri Lankan Fresh Mushrooms for Export and International Trade

“Abstract
The fresh agricultural produce industry faces significant limitations with its reliance on manual, outdated documentation-based traceability practices. This is no exception for the fresh mushroom industry. These limitations are further exaggerated in the presence of international markets, thereby limiting the export potential of local fresh mushrooms due to the lack of information accuracy and transparency. This project aimed to develop “TraceFlow”, a solution tailored explicitly for digital traceability of fresh mushrooms in the Sri Lankan small-holder farmer landscape.
A structured Hybrid agile project management approach was adopted throughout the development of this project to facilitate incremental development, stakeholder engagement, effective risk mitigation and rigorous testing. This was initiated from problem identification and industry research, moving to stakeholder requirement elicitation and gap analysis of existing practices/ solutions. The system architecture integrated a react-based web interface for admins and a flutter-based multilingual mobile application for daily harvest logging, verification, defect tracking and blockchain centric data immutability using solidity smart contracts managed via web3.js.
The key outcomes demonstrated a significant decrease in supply chain error and absence of information misplacement, strengthening the preparedness for European Union regulations and regulatory compliance. While successful, the study identified potential areas for improvements including IoT integrations, off-line data logging, smart analytics, suggesting valuable opportunities for future growth of TraceFlow.

VenDoor

The VenDoor application is a fully functional mobile application designed to create a bridge between mobile vendors and their customers in Sri Lanka. The application provides a platform that is efficient for vendors to manage their businesses while enabling customers to locate and engage with their preferred mobile vendors in real-time. This prototype’s main functionalities are real-time vendor tracking, inventory management, mobile POS (Point of Sale) system and route optimization.
When looking into the application from the vendors’ perspectives, the application allows them to register their mobile business, update their live location, manage inventory, plan their daily routes effectively, and use a mobile POS(Point of Sale) system to make the billing process more convenient. The application also supports multiple languages, such as Sinhala, English and Tamil, ensuring accessibility to anyone in Sri Lanka.
VenDoor provides customers with an intuitive interface to search for vendors based on their product categories, current locations, or preferred vendors. The application shows a real-time map of the vendors nearby so that customers can time it well and come out before the vendors pass their location. Furthermore, customers also have the option to view the current inventory so they can determine whether the product that they are looking for is available.
Ayura – A digital platform providing personalized dietary guidance based on Ayurvedic and Siddha principles in Sri Lanka

Ayurveda and Siddha are traditional medical systems that remain widely used in Sri Lanka. These approaches emphasize natural healing, customized meals, and lifestyle choices based on body type (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). While these principles are still recognized, many urban residents lack sufficient guidance on how to integrate them into their daily lives.
The primary issue identified is that individuals cannot determine their Ayurvedic body type and apply suitable dietary or lifestyle advice. This lack of personalized treatment leads to generic or inappropriate diets, which can exacerbate chronic conditions like diabetes and digestive issues, as well as stress. Although some traditional healthcare professionals offer advice, access is limited, and the process is not always straightforward for modern users.
This project seeks to bridge that gap by providing a practical and individualized approach to apply Ayurvedic and Siddha concepts. The goal is to help users recognize their body types and obtain meal ideas based on their health situation, aspects such as the season, weather or eating habits.
To collect data, the author conducted literature studies, user surveys, and expert consultations with Ayurvedic doctors. The author also examined existing wellness applications to discover missing functionality. Based on these findings, a prototype called Ayura was created.
The proposed solution is more than just digitizing Ayurveda, it also aims to make old wisdom more accessible. It combines body type detection, seasonal dietary suggestions, and supports users in making better lifestyle choices. This also encourages the ongoing use of Sri Lanka’s diverse traditional healing methods in a present, user-friendly approach.
DialyzeEase: A Web application designed to streamline the management of dialysis care for patients on hemodialysis and offer personalized educational modules

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients on hemodialysis face significant challenges in managing their care, including limited appointment availability, long waiting times, and difficulties in scheduling treatments. Additionally, research shows many patients lack crucial knowledge about how dietary and lifestyle modifications can slow disease progression. This project aims to develop DialyzeEase, a web application designed to address both challenges by streamlining appointment booking processes and providing personalized educational content to improve patients’ quality of life.
The research methodology followed a combined approach, beginning with a literature survey to validate the problem, background, and specific requirements. These findings were further evaluated through surveys with 41 respondents and interviews with two doctors from local hospitals. Stakeholder analysis using an onion model identified key actors in the dialysis care ecosystem, while system modeling established a robust design framework through functional, object, and dynamic models.
Findings revealed that most patients rely on manual booking at hospitals, with the majority reporting limited slot availability and long waiting times as major challenges. There is also a significant administrative burden on medical staff. Additionally, patients struggle with lifestyle management.
The developed prototype addresses these issues through an integrated appointment management system and a personalized knowledge hub that delivers CKD stage-specific recommendations.
